Plan a Phoenix Light Rail Pub Crawl. Get home safely.

9 Tips for Planning a Light Rail Pub Crawl
  1. Assign a Leader - Since you are on the train, you may not need a designated driver. However, it helps to designate a bar crawl "administrator" if you
will. Have this person keep the crowd moving to the next bar and make sure he/she knows where your crew is heading. Carrying a light rail map
    doesn't hurt.

  2. Determine a Starting Point - It is much easier to build a good group of people when you are all starting at the same spot. Choose a single light rail
station (preferably with available parking) where everyone can start. Meeting up with your group along the way is feasible, but waiting for a few
    laggards can be a hassle.

  3. Plan a Back-and-Forth Route - If the majority of your group starts at one station, try and stop at a few bars along the route and then some more on the
way back. Trying to hit every bar on your list in order going one way can be cumbersome. Plus, if the last bar you visit is more than a 10 minute train
ride back to where you parked, it can make for a long ride back. Try and plan so that the furthest bar away from where you start marks the half-way
point in your night, and make your way back to where you started.

  4. Encourage Everyone to Carry Small Bills - Sure, there are a couple gentlemen's clubs along the light rail route. However, you'll also want to carry
some small bills for your light rail pass. Light Rail pass vending machines only dispense change in coins. So if you plan to stick a twenty in the
machine, expect a fist full of Sacagawea's in return. Credit/debit cards are also accepted.

  5. Wear Comfortable Shoes - Plan to do a bit of walking from light rail station to bar, bar to light rail station, etc. Those heels may look nice, but you'll be
cursing them before the night is over. Go with the sneakers.

  6. Drain Before the Train - Before leaving to the next bar on the agenda, visit the latrine. Sometimes a short wait for the next train can seem like hours.
Avoid doing the pee-pee dance in front of other light rail passengers and/or darting on foot to the next bar. That's no way to make an entrance.

  7. Visit Bars That Serve Food - For the lightweights in your group, maintaining sobriety can be a slippery slope. Visit bars that serve food to keep
everyone going for the long haul. There are also several restaurants near the light rail route.

  8. Expect Plans to Change - Some in your party will bail early. You'll meet new people along the way. Some places won't be as lively as you'd hoped.
There will be others that you won't want to leave. No matter how organized your pub crawl may be, chances are your plans will change. When and if
they do, it will probably be for the better.

  9. When in Doubt, Cab It! - We've all been there. A few drinks leads to "I forgot how many" and drunken chicanery ensues. If you or your one of your
friends is well beyond the limit, avoid a scene on the Light Rail and call a cab. If you are not exactly sure when to go home, check this out.
